Leslie McBride

Leslie McBride has had an extensive career in opera. As a member of the New York City Opera for six years, she has appeared in over 50 productions, with principle roles in several, including Chocholka the Hen in Janeck’s The Cunning Little Vixen, Une Pastourelle in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortileges, La Cucina in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Young Tree in the “Live From Linclon Center” telecast of Britten’s Paul Bunyan. She has performed the title role’s of Pamina in the Mozart Opera Project’s production of The Magic Flute and Mabel in the North Shore Chamber Choir’s production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance.Ms. McBride has also been a featured soprano soloist with many concert groups throughout New York City and Long Island, performing such works as Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, Brahms’ A German Requiem, Rutter’s Requiem, Rutter’s Gloria, Haydn’s Teresianmesse, Haydn’s Paukenmesse, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Beethoven’s Mass in C and Faure’s Requiem. She has made regular appearances with the Brookhaven Choral Festival’s July 4th Celebration at the Brookhaven Amphitheater singing Mozart’s Grand Mass in C, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Mozart’s Requiem. Leslie was also a guest soloist with the Sound Symphony as they toured Long Island last summer. She can be heard as the soprano soloist on Aero Records recording of Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem to benefit ARDS research. In addition to opera and oratorio, Leslie has also performed many recitals singing the works of Mozart, Puccini, Bellini, Bach, and Handel. She recently performed a chamber recital of Romantic German Leider for Soprano, Cello and Piano in Southampton, NY, featuring the works of Strauss, Schubert, Brahms and Mendelssohn. Her recital celebrating the music of Mozart at the Elley-Long Music Center at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont was received with high acclaim. Ms. McBride has also had the honor of singing the National Anthem and “God Bless America” at the National College Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Dinner in South Bend, Indiana. Ms. McBride studied vocal performance at the Mannes College of Music in New York, NY, where she earned her Master’s degree. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Binghamton University. She resides in Manorville, New York, where she maintains a private voice studio.
